Currently, the Jesuits in Britain are offering three programmes for young adults (18-35 years old). These are:
- The Magis Europe 2020 (Ignatian Young Festival, August 1st to August 9th in Miskolc, Hungary)
- Eco-Magis ( Ecological Immersion from August 9th – August 16th, 2020 at the Beachhill Farm, Cheshire, UK)
- The Magis@Home (1-year residential programme in London for working young Catholics)
Magis is a Latin word that can be translated as ‘ the more’, ‘ the most’, ‘the greatest’, ‘ the best’. In the Spiritual Exercises (as well as in other Ignatian texts), St. Ignatius of Loyola encouraged those who are willing to commit themselves fully to God to discern what does God is calling them to do. In this regard, Ignatius emphasised that life choices should be “conducive to the greater service of God and the universal good.” Therefore, to life the Magis is to live fully, deeply, to serve selflessly, to give and not to count the cost. All the programmes above-mentioned aim at precisely that: to allow young people to experience what concretely means to live in God’s light in our times.
